Myra studied textile art and dress and textile design at Ilkley College and soon after joined a ‘makers’ co-operative selling her work in Hemel Hempstead and Covent Garden.  At about the same time she took up a post teaching textiles at upper school. Whilst she took a teaching career break to raise her family, Myra
designed and made individual silk wedding gowns under the label ‘Fuschia Fantastique’. Myra later resumed her teaching career in Milton Keynes– this time with nursery and reception children until, in 2003, she decided once again to rekindle her creative interests.  Myra’s current work explores colour and texture through a fusion of her own hand-dyed silk, hand-made felts and a combination of fabrics, fibres, threads and papers embellished with beads, wire and feathers. Myra also supports local schools with their creative art projects, and in the future plans to run workshops for children and adults. Myra is a founder of the successful collective of local artists and makers who hold regular weekend exhibitions in Woburn Sands - The Purple Poppy Gallery.
